60th anniversary at Sandy Shores

We had a great time at Tahoe. Sandy Shores has the perfect spot at the north end of the lake providing a spectacular view. With snow still on the highest mountains, my parents said it reminded them of alaska. It is also across the street from Safeway, where we seemed to need to go at least once a day. The house was fine, including the bathrooms, beds, living room sofa, hot tub/spa and patio furniture. However, the living area was too small for the number of people advertised to sleep there. The dining room was cramped and the kitchen was small. The dishes in the cupboards were random with 3 cheese graters, but no working wine opener or measuring cups/spoons, and no wine glasses (only plastic - yuck) When we pulled bowls out of the cupboard one morning my mom screemed because one of the bowls had larvae of some sort (maybe a previous guest put it away dirty??) Only two of the four burners in the barbeque functioned, making burger cooking for a crowd difficult. The photographs online showed a "double sleeper sofa" in the guest house. When my daughter & her husband went to bed the first night, they found a regular sofa - much too small for them to sleep. Fortunately their children were too small for the twin beds, so that's where they spent their week sleeping - in twin beds. Very disappointing. However, we did enjoy the fire pit on the patio, and the beach was great for our grandchildren. Pullen Rental Group that handles the property was fabulous! - very accommodating and helpful. They brought us propane to fill the empty patio heater and found my brother's cell phone he accidently left behind. No complaints about them!
Wonderful location, beautiful home

Our party of 14 were extremely pleased to find this home even better than what its photos depicted. Although its shape was a bit odd (clear additions for more space forced you to walk through two bedrooms to get to the last bathroom and bedroom), the main spaces were very well appointed and perfect for gathering and spending the evenings together. What's more, the hot tub was very large, with a perfect view of the lake right on the beach! We couldn't have asked for more. The location was key, too: directly across the street from a great Italian restaurant, AND from Safeway. We literally walked to Safeway about five or six times to pick up new food, just because we could. 15 minutes from Northstar, 20-30 minutes from Squaw.
