Let me start by saying we did not have an entirely unpleasant stay. The furnishings and detail are charming, the location good, and when the TV did not work it was fixed right away. We enjoyed the many board games provided (though they were missing pieces) and the candles.
However, the home is much smaller than it appears in the photos. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom are in fact quite claustrophobic and the living room almost cramped. Though it is sunny and bright during the day, at night it is quite dark as the lighting is a challenge, particularly in the kitchen where it is bright over the sink but not over the prep/bar area (making prepping food difficult). The kitchen also was missing a few important (to us) items - namely wine glasses and ice cube trays (if you want ice for drinks, bring it with you as there is no way to make it at the house).
The fire was lovely, but the home fills with smoke and we did not seem to be able to fix that.
We would not stay at this rental again.

Thank you for your comments. Please remember we are always available 7 days a week for any problems that arise during your stay like you experienced with the fireplace. We have left detailed instructions on how to operate the fireplace and make sure the flue is open so the house will not fill up with smoke. But sometimes there can be other issues with fireplaces that are beyond everyone's control. The owners will update the kitchen items you mentioned next time they visit the property. New track lighting is being installed over the kitchen prep area for better lighting as you suggested. They are also looking into replacing the older bed with a new one!
